A Glorious Day Off

I LOVE summer! I live for the sunshine days, the garden growing, the smell of coconut oil and any excuse to use / play with the hose. Temperature-wise, we reached the mid 80's yesterday and today looks to be just as lovely!

What shall I do? What shall I do? Definitely going to drag out the hose. It iS a drag, getting it all set up. We have no outside water spigot, so I have to connect it to the kitchen faucet. LOL.. I made plenty of wet messes before I found the right connector doodad! I shall water my little flower garden, hose off the sidewalk and entryway and most likely wash the car as well.

There will be a short period of sunbathing. It has to be short as I'm still very pale and don't want to burn. You should see Lynne! Our little blonde-haired, blue-eyed princess was out for 45 minutes AFTER 4 pm... and ended up PINK. LOL.. her favorite color *wink* I'm not that susceptible to burning, but am always careful at the start of the season.

What else? Oh, I promised to do the grocery shopping today. Lynne has 410 papers left to grade and doesn't need that chore eating into her already slim amount of spare time. Me, I fecking live in the grocery store, what's another few minutes anyway, right?

I also have a big bunch of rhubarb that a friend gave to us. So I am thinking about making a pie, with meringue mountain on top! There's enough to make a crumble too, but those are best eaten warm so I'll wait on that.

There are two newspapers waiting to be read. Sudoku and crossword puzzles inside needing to be solved. I also need to make a list for the bbq we're having on Sunday... mmm, good excuse for guacamole.

My mind is all over the place right now, can you tell? I love puttery days off.

OK, I'm starved and get hit with talk of pies and guacamole! ;-)

Enjoy the sun, here the ark is almost complete, another couple of inches of rain tonight...

Don't days like this remind you of the things we think of as "summer songs?" Geesh, when they start going through my head...

'Boys of Summer' Don Henley... heard it today and was in perfect summer heaven!!!

I burnt the pie though. Try converting degrees to celcius, then try to figure in the difference for using a convection oven... my math was off a bit, I daresay ;)
