So Much

Yeah, I've been busy. Everytime I think about blogging, I'm hit with a list of stuff I want to mention and the list seems so long that I imagine I'd be here all day trying to catch up. Let's wade in anyway, kay?

The trip to Montana was a blast! A week was too short but we spent nearly every moment with the family and it was worth it. My daughter was gorgeous in her graduation gown and LOVED the laptop we (Lynne, my son & I) bought her. She has a very sweet boyfriend who spent loads of time with us and didn't appear to be freaked out that his gf has two Moms! My son, the marine DID make the trip and scared the shit out of us the few times we rode in his car. It's great to see him sticking with a plan and enjoying the rewards of a regular paycheck. I loved every moment spent with them.

M&D made the trip over for the ceremony too. Then they ended up staying the entire following week for the funeral of a close friend. That part was really sad and the wife of the friend is having a rough time, even though her hubby died back in March and the funeral was held off till this time when all the family could make it. I love that woman like family and wanted to cry myself when she greeted me with tears running down her face.

My best friend is THE MOST WONDERFUL HOSTESS. She always makes us feel so comfortable, like her place is ours. I miss her and the crazy long convos we used to have. Unfortunately this time, my family was around so much that we didn't have the opportunity to indulge as much as I would have liked. BUT, she also had another vistor during the start of our time there. I finally got to meet the Other Kim.. who is the greatest! She's funny, witty and sarcastic. Smokes, drinks and likes to think beyond boundaries. One morning, sitting beside her on the deck (where we all spent most of our time cos it was beautiful and cool there) I noticed something interesting. We both had black thongs on our feet and had toenails painted with frosted purple polish! Musta been a Kim thing!

When we got back, and I mean the very next day.. we had a showing of the flat. The woman liked it and had her hubby come see it a few days later. Then they put in an offer, just £2000 below our asking price. We accepted.

Lynne went in for surgery on the 20th. For some reason I was more scared this time and really worried about how she'd pull through. She did wonderfully though and I had her home before noon the next day. Docs removed the cyst off the ovary, cleaned up a small amount of endometriosis that's developed and cut away as much of the adhesions (caused by the endo AND the previous surgeries) as they could. As expected, she's been in a bit of pain and is moving gingerly but is well on the road to recovery.

This Monday we had the mortgage guy out to the house to help us set up finances for the new place. The next day Lynne called to see how our buyer's sale of their own house had gone.. only to be told that they'd decided NOT to buy our flat. In fact, they'd been meaning to tell us for a FEW DAYS that they'd changed their minds, but just hadn't gotten around to it. Fuckers. I wish an earnest deposit was routine over here...

It's been raining like crazy with massive flooding on the other side of the country. More is predicted this weekend. My garden has put on 6 inches of weak, leggy growth which the wind had whipped and beaten to smithereens. YAY.

Yesterday two car bombs (unexploded) were discovered in the heart of London. I watched newsbroadcasts about it from three different sources. The UK news was very factual but I got more info from the US broadcasts. Fox must have said Al Quaida (sp?) at least two dozen times, compared with once for the BBC and twice for NBC. (Villagers, get your pitchforks and torches!)Also, Fox kept repeating a mistake, saying this must have been a message to our new Prime Minister who's been in office three days now... but he's only been in for two days! NBC gave me the most info, saying they'd discovered at least one of the cars had been confirmed stolen from Scotland and driven to Birmingham before being taken into London. I found the differences in the broadcasts interesting...
